Chemical Exposure UCSC employees, students, and visitors who are exposed to toxic compounds on campus may need to have the levels of exposure assessed and protective measures provided. EH&S industrial hygiene experts can monitor individuals and calculate the average exposure levels to a substance by a variety of means. Personal monitoring badges (about the size of a credit card) is one method used to collect exposure data, but other methods such as direct reading instruments, grab samples, or Draeger tubes may be employed. If you have questions about chemical exposure at UCSC, call EH&S at 9-2553. EPA Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office links to chemical information
