Beverage and Food Containers

Metal

Aluminum, metal, tin, steel, bi-metal cans, food-aerosol cans, pie-plates, trays, and foil wraps are all accepted for recycling. Foil wrap must be clean, flattened and folded, do not ball it up. All cans and trays should be clean, and not contaminated with food. You can place these items in the mixed recycling bins throughout campus.

Not Accepted: any solvent or reagent containers from labs (see Laboratory containers)

Plastics

Plastic containers #1-7 are accepted for recycling. This includes plastic bottles, jars, and tubs. Please rinse, and remove caps or lids before placing in recycling bins. Step on plastic containers to flatten.  You can place these items in the mixed recycling bins throughout campus.

Not Accepted: any solvent or reagent containers from labs (see Laboratory containers), plastic motor-oil containers and black plastic, such as microwave trays and nursery pots. Do not place Styrofoam in these bins (see Styrofoam), but other plastic #6 containers are accepted.

Glass

Glass bottles and jars of any color. You can place these items in the mixed recycling bins throughout campus. Glass containers should be rinsed clean before placing in recycle bins, paper labels are okay. Remove lids and corks.

Not accepted: any solvent or reagent containers from labs, windows, mirrors, drinking glasses, pyrex, and ceramics
