Sewer System Management Plan

UC Santa Cruz has developed a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) pursuant to State Water Resources Control Board Order 2006-0003, Statewide General Waste Discharge Requirements for Sanitary Sewer Systems.

The goal of the UCSC SSMP is to provide a plan and schedule to properly manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the sanitary sewer system. This will help reduce and prevent sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), as well as mitigate any SSOs that do occur.

The Sewer System Management Plan development process began in summer 2007. The Sewer System Management Plan was approved by the Regents in July 2009.

Click here to view the Sewer System Management Plan in PDF format. You may also review the Sewer System Management Plan during normal business hours at the UCSC Environmental Health & Safety Office, 1156 High Street, Santa Cruz.

Interested parties are invited to contact Robin Fried at (831) 459-4840 or cleanwater@ucsc.edu for additional information or to provide their views on the Sewer System Management Plan.

UC Santa Cruz reports Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) electronically to the California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS). Electronic SSO data, as well as information regarding regulatory actions, is available from the State Water Resources Control Board.
