Lab Safety Training Classes
The Campus Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) program is designed to protect individuals from occupational exposure to human blood, tissues, cell lines and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). UCSC researchers working with human blood, human cell lines or OPIM must contact the Campus Biosafety Officer to discuss development of a laboratory specific BBP plan.

Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Vaccination Information
Researchers and employees working with biological materials potentially contaminated with bloodborne pathogens are provided the hepatitis B vaccination series at no cost to themselves. Vaccination may not be appropriate for individuals who have previously completed the HBV vaccination series. Voluntary antibody testing is available to help assess whether previous vaccination remains effective. Personnel declining the vaccination series must complete the HBV Vaccination Declination Form for their Supervisor to keep on file as proof of having offered the vaccine.
