Using an N95 Respirator
This video covers the proper use of N95 disposable filtering facepiece respirators. N95s are designed to reduce inhalation exposure from airborne particulate contaminants like those from wildfire smoke.
Like any respirator, N95s have advantages and limitations. N95s are cheap, lightweight, and relatively comfortable. However, their success is limited by the fit and face seal of the respirator.
Please note that single strap varieties of “nuisance particle” masks should not be considered an approved respirator and most surgical masks do not meet the definition of an N95 respirator and should not be considered adequate for protection from wildfire smoke.
